  • 2.0 mm crochet hook
  • Fiberfill
  • Tapestry needle for sewing
  • Sewing thread and a needle
  • Some plastic (you can use plastic bottle or yogurt container)

Abbreviations:
ch = chain
sc = single crochet

dec = decrease (two st together)
[..] = total number of stitches

# 1 you can change the color according to your request. Try nature colors for this amigurumi toy.
All parts are crocheted in a spiral without the first round and a chain at the end of each round. Fill the toy when you go. Take the thread # 1 and crochet the body of the wood spirit. Head, body, arms, legs are crocheted as one piece.

Start with a head:

Rnd 1: 6 sc in a magic ring

Rnd 2: (inc) repeat 6 times [12]

Rnd 3: (sc in the next st, inc) repeat 6 times [18]

Rnd 4: (sc in the next 2 st, inc) repeat 6 times [24]

Rnd 5: (sc in the next 3 st, inc) repeat 6 times [30]

Rnd 6: (sc in the next 4 st, inc) repeat 6 times [36]

Rnd 7: (sc in the next 5 st, inc) repeat 6 times [42]

Rnd 8: (sc in the next 6 st, inc) repeat 6 times [48]

Rnd 9: (sc in the next 7 st, inc) repeat 6 times [54]

Rnd 10: (sc in the next 8 st, inc) repeat 6 times [60]

Rnd 11-18 (8 rounds): sc in all 60 st

Rnd 19: (sc in the next 8 st, dec) repeat 6 times [54]

Rnd 20: (sc in the next 7 st, dec) repeat 6 times [48]

Rnd 21: (sc in the next 6 st, dec) repeat 6 times [42]

Rnd 22: (sc in the next 5 st, dec) repeat 6 times [36]

Continue crocheting the body:

Rnd 23: sc in all 36 st in front loops only [36]

Rnd 24: (sc in the next 5 st, inc) repeat 6 times [42]

Rnd 25: (sc in the next 6 st, inc) repeat 6 times [48]

Rnd 26: (sc in the next 7 st, inc) repeat 6 times [54]

Rnd 27: (sc in the next 8 st, inc) repeat 6 times [60]

Start crocheting arms. Note: don’t stuff the arms!

Crochet 10 sc, fold, count back 10 stitches and join the circle. It’s the first round of the arm.

Rnd 2-4: sc in all 10 st

Rnd 5: (sc in the next 3 st, dec) repeat 2 times [8]

Rnd 6: sc in all 8 st

Rnd 7: (sc in the next 2 st, dec) repeat 2 times [6]

Insert thread in the needle and weave through the front loops. Pull off the opening.

The first arm is done. Count 20 stitches from it and join new yarn in the 21st stitch. Start crocheting the second arm:

Rnd 1: sc in the next 10 st. Join in a circle. Crochet rounds 2-7 like the first arm.

Don’t stuff the arms, but stuff tightly the head and the neck. Join yarn to one of the arms and start to crochet around the body, joining in a circle its both parts. We have 20 stitches between the arms at each side. That is:

Rnd 1: sc in all 40 st [40] Rnd 2-7 (6 rounds): sc in all 40 st [40]

There are openings in the arm pits of the wood spirit, sew them neatly with the same yarn.

Crochet 9 sc, fold, count 18 stitches back, join in a circle and crochet 9 more sc. This is the first round of the leg.
Rnd 2-4 (3 rounds): sc in all 18 st [18] Leave the tail for sewing the foot.
Count 2 stitches from the first leg and join yarn in the third stitch. Leave a long tail for sewing the opening between the legs. Crochet the second leg in the same way. That is: crochet 18 sc, join in a circle and crochet 3 more rounds of 18 sc.
Sew the opening between the legs. Tightly stuff the belly and the legs.

Feet:

Crochet two identical parts:

Rnd 1: 6 sc in a magic ring

Rnd 2: (inc) repeat 6 times [12]

Rnd 3: (sc in the next st, inc) repeat 6 times [18]

Cut the yarn and hide the tail.

Put an oval on the plastic and draw a circle. Cut two smaller diameter circles. For better balance, put it on the legs and sew the feet as follows: insert a needle from both rings on the leg side and remove it from the front rings of the feet.

The body of the toy is ready!

Crocheting additional parts

Mushrooms

Make a big and a small mushrooms. Stuff as you go.

Big mushroom:

Start with red yarn

Rnd 1: 6 sc in a magic ring

Rnd 2: (sc in the next 2 st, inc) repeat 2 times [8]

Rnd 3: sc in all 8 st

Rnd 4: (sc in the next st, inc) repeat 4 times [12]

Change to white yarn:

Rnd 5: sc in all 12 st in back loops only

Rnd 6: (dec) repeat 6 times [6]

Rnd 7-9 (3 rounds): sc in all 6 st [6]

Rnd 10: (sc in the next 2 st, inc) repeat 2 times [8]

Leave a tail for sewing.

Small mushroom:

Start with red yarn

Rnd 1: 6 sc in a magic ring

Rnd 2: (sc in the next 2 st, inc) repeat 2 times [8]

Rnd 3: sc in all 8 st

Change to white yarn.

Rnd 4: sc in all 8 st in back loops only [8]

Rnd 5: (sc in the next 2 st, dec) repeat 2 times [6]

Rnd 6-8 (3 rounds): sc in all 6 st [6]

Insert the white yarn in the needle and embroider white spots on the mushrooms with simple straight stitches.

Belly with berries

Take the yarn #2 (light-green) and crochet:

Rnd 1: 6 sc in a magic ring

Rnd 2: (inc) repeat 6 times [12]

Rnd 3: (sc in the next st, inc) repeat 6 times [18]

Rnd 4: (sc in the next 2 st, inc) repeat 6 times [24]

Rnd 5: (sc in the next 3 st, inc) repeat 6 times [30]

Fasten off and hide the tail. You may leave a long tail for sewing, but it will be neater if you sew this part with sewing thread.

Now you should embroider with dark-green color simple branches with 3 berries. If you don’t have green embroidery floss, divide the yarn #5 into strands and embroider with them. Sew beads with red thread.

Ears

Take the yarn #2 and crochet two identical parts. Don’t stuff!

Rnd 1: 4 sc in a magic ring

Rnd 2: (sc in the next 1 st, inc) repeat 2 times [6]

Rnd 3: (sc in the next 2 st, inc) repeat 2 times [8]

Rnd 4: (sc in the next 3 st, inc) repeat 2 times [10]

Rnd 5: (sc in the next 4 st, inc) repeat 2 times [12]

Rnd 6: (sc in the next 5 st, inc) repeat 2 times [14]

Rnd 7: (sc in the next 6 st, inc) repeat 2 times [16]

Rnd 8-9 (2 rounds): sc in all 16 st

Rnd 10: (sc in the next 6 st, dec) repeat 2 times [14]

Rnd 11: (sc in the next 5 st, dec) repeat 2 times [12]

Rnd 12: (sc in the next 4 st, dec) repeat 2 times [10]

Rnd 13: (sc in the next 3 st, dec) repeat 2 times [8]

Rnd 14: (sc in the next 2 st, dec) repeat 2 times [6]

Leave the tail to the end for sewing. Place the thread on the needle and knit through the front loops.
When 2 leaves are ready, embroider the nerves on them with the thread you use for the branches. Do this with simple stitches. Embroider along the trail so that the nerves are visible from both sides and the leaf remains straight.
Assembly:
1) Sew the toadstools on the top of the head.
2) Sew the ears as shown in the picture through the edge of the leaves. Choose the place for the ears as you wish.
